Tudor
Tudor – 1485 through to the death of Elizabeth I in 1603. This period probably encompassed some of the most costly garments in history.

Complete outfit made for 'Katharine Parr' from 'Tudor Majesty'. See also the Gents page for the equivalent Henry VIII outfit. Obviously fit for a Queen, this outfit was made from high quality fabrics and created with very little visible machine stitching, this is reflected in the prices here. You could have an outfit made for less than this if compromises were made. For an outfit like this you need at least 4 fittings.

Chemise – white linen from £60
Farthingale and roll – in calico with steels. From £140
Petticoat in silk - From £150

Kirtle – with heavy boning at the front bodice, back lacing. Pearl and metal decoration at neckline. Dark red silk taffeta and rose damask. Interlined with calico. Separate sleeves in red with white linen pulls. From £500

Gown – in black and beige man-made fibres! An occasion when the pattern fitted the bill and a silk was too costly. Interlined and lined. Large black silk velvet hanging sleeves. From £750.
