One of my favourite things in life is a fine westkit! I have lost count of how many I have made over the years. Alas, many were sold without a photograph being taken. There are so many different styles ranging from the long early Georgian waistcoats, (which have sleeves), to the elegantly tailored Victorian styles with collars. Not forgetting what one might call 'ordinary' waistcoats, the simple V neck type mostly worn at weddings these days.
All can be made in standard chest sizes, or as a bespoke garment for a really perfect fit.

These waistcoats have all long since been sold, but the picture shows from left to right:
A 'normal' waistcoat in a very beautiful silk brocade, anything but normal!
A Victorian style in a jacquard butterfly fabric with velvet shawl collar
A Regency style in fabulous striped silk
A Victorian style in red silk damask with notched lapel. |

The Georgian waistcoats have no shaping as such, the fabrics are cut flat, perhaps with curved seams, and stitched together.
The Victorians however really got carried away and an authentic waistcoat of this era will be tailored and should fit like a glove with darts and padding and all sorts of stuff! |
