FAQ
Do you have a shop?
I have moved to a new studio where customers will be able to come and see me and my work by appointment.

Can I supply my own fabrics?
Yes you can, but you must check with me first. I will need to know details about the fabrics (width and pattern repeat if applicable) and see a sample. This also applies to trimmings and buttons etc. This may add to the time scale, bear this in mind when ordering.

Do you work in leather?
I don't make a complete garments in leather, but I can use second hand leather to trim things, or make small accessories.

Do you make fancy Dress?
In a word, no. The term fancy dress usually implies garments made cheaply and quickly with little or no regard for authenticity (zips and velcro usually abound!). My garments are quality garments made for people who wish to wear them over and over again.

Can I send you my own designs?
Yes you can. Due to construction methods they may have to be altered but I will keep this to a minimum.

How long will it take?
Depends on what you order and how busy I am. I am a one woman show here and I work as fast as I can. A plain black velvet waistcoat can be done in a week. If I have to start searching for a particular fabric, trim or set of antique buttons it could take many weeks. You will also have to allow time for fittings if necessary. This will be discussed when you contact me.

Do you do weddings?
As long as you promise not to turn into bridezilla on me! No, seriously, I can do wedding dresses, but please don't ask me to copy a dress from somewhere else! Come with your own ideas, or I can design one for you, the more unusual the better.

Do you make corsets for men?
Yes, either as an item of costume (both Georgian and Victorian gents wore them) or for cross dressers, T.V's etc etc.

I would like a dress from a painting, can you do this?
Yes I can, but usually only a bit of it is seen, the rest we will have to invent between us! This goes for dresses from films.

Do you make uniforms?
I can make uniforms but you will have to supply information regarding the colours, cut and lace of particular regiments and ranks. Taking all branches of the armed forces, eras, ranks, 'walking out', 'dress', 'undress' etc into account there are far too many for me to know about them all in detail. I do have some books on Naval uniforms from the 18th century as it is one of my favourite eras.

Do you make clothes for children?
Yes I can. The same terms and conditions apply as for adults clothing. Extra fabrics can sometimes be incorporated into hems and sleeves to allow for some growth!
